Comparison of 980-nm and 1070-nm In Endovenous Laser Treatment

Topaloglu, N | Tabakoglu, O | Ergenoglu, MU | Gulsoy, M

Conference Object | 2009 | BIYOMUT: 2009 14TH NATIONAL BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING MEETING

The rise of endovenous laser treatment for varicose veins has been increasing in recent years. It is a safer technique than surgical vein stripping. Its complications (e.g. bruising, pain) are less than the complications of surgical vein stripping. But best parameters such as optimum wavelength, power, and application duration are still under investigation to clarify uncertainties about this technique. To prevent its complications and improve its clinical outcomes, the exact mechanism of it has to be known. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of different laser wavelengths on endovenous laser therapy. In this study 98 . . .0-nm diode laser and 1070-nm fiber laser were used. Human veins were irradiated with 980-nm and 1070-nm lasers at 8 W and 10 W to find the optimal power and wavelength. After laser application, remarkable shrinkage was observed. Inner and outer diameters of the veins also narrowed for both of the laser types. 10 W of 980-nm laser application led to better shrinkage results Daha fazlası Daha az

Conference Object | 2014 | 2014 18TH NATIONAL BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING MEETING (BIYOMUT)

Computation fluid dynamics (CFD) is widely used to simulate blood flow in vascular systems. Most of the studies focus on identification of reasons behind the cardiovascular disorders. In this study, magnetic resonance angiography data belonging to a patient were used to obtain brain vasculature solid model. This model prior to CFD simulations was evaluated in terms of surface quality and critical region was identified to be investigated. After CFD analysis, the regions with low and high velocity vector fields, pressure, contours and wall shear stresses (WSS) were obtained. The effect of shape and orientation of vessels was observed. . . . It was seen that increased blood velocity increases the pressure and WSS especially in narrow regions Daha fazlası Daha az

Evaluation of Two Models for Securing SIP for Home Network Communicationsyy

Demir, O | Aktas, T

Conference Object | 2013 | 2013 16TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON WIRELESS PERSONAL MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATIONS (WPMC)

In this work, two different SIP communication models for smart home networks are suggested to meet the security requirements needed for verifying remote user's identity (authentication) and data privacy (confidentiality) of the connection. While the first method uses HTTP Digest Authentication for user registration security and IPSec tunnel for data confidentiality, the second method uses TLS for a secure authentication and SRTP in order to provide data confidentiality during the connection. SRTP key sharing is also provided by TLS before connection is established between a user and a home network. A pilot system is developed by usi . . .ng third party SIP stack implementation to observe the performance of the two alternatives. Results of these evaluations are presented Daha fazlası Daha az

Data Freshness Model for P/S Based Sensor Monitoring System

Serdaroglu, KC | Baydere, S

Conference Object | 2018 | 2018 26TH SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATIONS APPLICATIONS CONFERENCE (SIU)

Publish-Subscribe(P/S) based sensor monitoring systems provide different quality-of-service according to client-server policies. Using adaptive timing and data freshness models may increase the flexibility of services in these systems. In this paper, we propose two timing models for sensor network based emergency detection P/S Systems in which the timing constraints and data freshness can be dynamically adjusted for user needs. The performance of these models is tested in a real testbed setup. The experimental results reveal that the proposed models can meet the timing and data freshness demands of the clients for applications which . . . acquire physical data from scalar sensors with 2-10s sampling rates Daha fazlası Daha az

Building Detection with Spatial Voting and Morphology Based Segmentation

Ozcan, AH | Unsalan, C

Conference Object | 2016 | 2016 24TH SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATION APPLICATION CONFERENCE (SIU) , pp.429 - 432

Automated object detection in remotely sensed data has gained wide application areas due to increased sensor resolution. In this study, we propose a novel building detection method using high resolution DSM data and true orthophoto image. In the proposed method, DSM feature points and NDVI are obtained. Then, they are used for spatial voting to generate a building probability map. Local maxima of this map are used as seed points for segmentation. For this purpose, a morphology based segmentation method is proposed. This way, buildings are detected from DSM data. We tested our method on ISPRS semantic labeling dataset and obtained pr . . .omising results Daha fazlası Daha az

Voltage mode multifunction biquads employing a single operational transresistance amplifier

Kilinc, S | Keskin, AU | Cam, U

Conference Object | 2007 | 2007 IEEE 15TH SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATIONS APPLICATIONS, VOLS 1-3 , pp.429 - 432

In this study, a voltage mode, multi input single output type multifunction biquad is proposed. It uses only one operational transresistance amplifier (OTRA) as the active element, while previously reported voltage mode multifunction filters require more OTRAs. Proposed multi input single output type biquad configuration can realize all five different filter transfer functions. Theoretical results are verified with PSPICE simulations using a CMOS realization of OTRA.

Otu, HH | Can, H | Kaya, N | Al-alwan, L | Ozand, P | Inan, MS

Conference Object | 2007 | 2007 IEEE 15TH SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATIONS APPLICATIONS, VOLS 1-3 , pp.429 - 432

In this paper we present comparative expression, functional and pathway analysis of transcriptional profiling of a dysmorphic patient and its matched control using whole blood and fibroblast cells in an attempt to identify genetic changes in Dysmorphic disorders and developmental genes at large. Normalization was done by first finding an invariant set whose expression levels do not change significantly among the chips and then using this set to normalize raw probe values with a smoothing spline invariant set normalization method. Genes with significant change in expression were identified using the lower confidence bound of fold cha . . .nge and these genes were used to perform functional analyses within the context of Gene Ontology categories and biological pathwyas. Our results indicate that genes with altered expression levels are cell-type specific, activated biological categories are mostly developmental related such as skeletal and muscular system and genes dysregulated in both cell types effect cAMP dependent PKA pathway and consequently the CREB cycle Daha fazlası Daha az

Detecting Inshore Ships in Satellite Images

Ozcan, AH | Unsalan, C

Conference Object | 2015 | 2015 23RD SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATIONS APPLICATIONS CONFERENCE (SIU) , pp.1220 - 1223

Ship detection in satellite images is used for monitoring illegal fishing and violation of coastal waters or general maritime management. SAR images has been extensively used in this manner. Recently, researchers have started using optical satellite images for ship detection. These studies can be divided into two categories as inshore and offshore ship detection. Offshore ship detection is a relatively easy problem. But, inshore ship detection is a challenging problem in which ships are located closely. In this study, we handle this problem and propose a novel method assuming we have the harbor information beforehand. In the method, . . . the mask is morphologically thickened in single steps and adjacent ships are detected with a contour following method. Moreover, a shape model for the ships is used to eliminate false alarms. We tested the proposed method on high resolution satellite images and achieved promising results Daha fazlası Daha az

Gok, MY | Sagiroglu, MS | Unsalan, C | Goren, S

Conference Object | 2013 | 2013 21ST SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATIONS APPLICATIONS CONFERENCE (SIU) , pp.1220 - 1223

Smith Waterman Algorithm is a widely used tool in bioinformatics to align reads from aligning to a reference in whole genome sequencing. Mapping millions of sequences read from sequencing is a computationally expensive operation. Accuracy and performance are two important aspects of this process. FPGA based solutions are widely studied. In this paper we tried to achieve a better mapping accuracy for optimum alignment using quality scores of the bases of read sequences while keeping the performance high. We are offering a new Smith Waterman processing unit and systolic array based on quality scores.
