Analysing the user experience of smart city mobility through applications in Istanbul

Preprint | 2023 | Yeditepe University Academic and Open Access Information System

In recent years, different ways have been sought to compete in the growing and changing production and consumption environment with technological developments. For this reason, the importance of experience and usage areas in design is increasing. One of the most widely used models in the world and in our country recently is the smart city, which aims to protect the environment and sustainable development. Smart city aims to use resources efficiently by saving time, energy and labour for limited world resources. Smart cities aim to provide the necessary high quality urban services by utilising the opportunities offered by technology . . .in urban management. Some of the stakeholders of smart city technology are telecommunication networks, mobile devices, digital cameras, sensors in urban areas, public databases, smart cards and social media. Today, when user expectations are changing, it is important to understand their abstract and concrete needs. This situation creates difficulty for users to express themselves with abstract concepts. In order to create positive product experiences and design products that add value to users' lives, more research and applicable tools are needed to resonate with users. In this direction, this thesis aims to reach the user value created by the user's interaction with the product, to present a framework that design researchers can benefit from the inventions that affect user value, and to present a framework that design researchers can benefit from in user experience and existing product interaction Daha fazlası Daha az

Ideology and U.S. Foreign policy in the post-wilsonian era: an analysis of American foreign policy as a derivative of political tradition based on the idealism-realism spectrum

Preprint | 2023 | Yeditepe University Academic and Open Access Information System

Ideology, as a system of ideas characterizing that forms the basis of theories and policies, shapes the way in which citizens and politicians conceptualize foreign policy. In analyzing the determinants of American foreign policy in the post-Wilsonian era, this research considers realism and idealism to be the two opposing foundational ideologies upon which additional systems in political thought are founded. An analysis of ideologies, in this sense, from isolationism to neoliberalism and expansionism demonstrates that the core ideological roots found in American policy doctrines are formed as a result of constant symbiotic interplay . . . of political realism and idealism. Approaching ideology on the basis of continuity and change, this research attempts to analyze the areas in which ideologies influenced American foreign policy in the post-Wilson period by analyzing the prominent social and political understandings since the birth of America as a nation and state.. The main purpose of this academic study, therefore, is to identify the role of ideology in influencing American politicians and state policies, in the formation of policies characterizing foreign affairs of the United States Daha fazlası Daha az

Exhibition strategies of video works at Istanbul Biennials

Preprint | 2023 | Yeditepe University Academic and Open Access Information System

The introduction of electronic image recording tools in the 1950s provided a unique structure that could affect the production processes of artists. At the beginning, video art was used by artists to criticize television and later on, artists developed new strategies using the possibilities of video from different disciplines and perspectives. Since 1960, artists have started to use video as a means of expression and video has spread rapidly. In Turkey, the spread of video art coincided with the 1990s, and the interest of artists in video art increased in the 2000s. The elements to be considered in the exhibition of video art differ . . .ed from the exhibition of traditional artworks due to nature of the video. In this respect, in addition to formal concerns, hardware and technical possibilities were decisive, especially until the introduction of the first digital cameras in the mid-1990s. The use of display devices in displaying video art depends on the conceptual and formal relationship with the tool used in the demonstration. The unique space and image relations of the video have transformed the normative viewing conditions in the modernist white cube gallery space. Consequently, art institutions have started to create special spaces, which will be known as the black cube in the future. In this context, within the scope of the study, starting from the origins of video art and after the use of video as an artistic expression have been revealed in order to provide a basis for the interpretation of the approaches used in displaying video art in the editions held until the 17th Istanbul Biennial; the development of video art in the historical process in the world and in Turkey will be examined and the determining factors in the exhibition of video art are discussed. In the last part of the study, video works in the biennials will be detected and the approaches used in the exhibition were presented Daha fazlası Daha az

An investigation of the relationship between health care expenditures and economic growth

Preprint | 2023 | Yeditepe University Academic and Open Access Information System

In the 1960s, endogenous growth theories revealed that human capital accumulation is at least as important as physical capital accumulation on economic growth. Then, it was focused on how to increase the accumulation of human capital, and it was determined that the two main components were primarily education and then health. There are many studies in the literature on the relationship between economic growth and health expenditures. In the studies on the relationship between health expenditures and economic growth, although it has been observed that health expenditures generally increase economic growth, there are also studies that . . . do not affect economic growth or decrease economic growth. In this study, the relationship between health expenditures and economic growth has been examined for OECD countries with five different methods: panel data analysis, structural break panel data analysis, panel causality test, dynamic panel data analysis and non-linear panel data analysis. In these methods, firstly, the relationship between economic growth and health expenditures was examined. Then, the other generally accepted components of economic growth in the literature, such as capital accumulation, total factor productivity and the democracy index, whose effects on economic growth are discussed, were included in the model and the effect of health expenditures on economic growth was determined Daha fazlası Daha az

. .sına vesile olmuştur. Bu makalede, bilim ve sanat arasındaki ilişkiler rastlantı bağlamında araştırılarak, rastlantı faktörünü eserlerinde kullanan sanatçılardan örnekler verilmiştir Daha fazlası Daha az

Value segmentation of remotely acquired customers in banking: a model-based approach

Preprint | 2023 | Yeditepe University Academic and Open Access Information System

Innovations in information technologies lead to significant changes in the banking sector. While consumers' adaptation to digital services is accelerating, there are developments in the areas of customer experience and expectations. The integration of banks with high technology to meet customer expectations ensures that new products and services are emerging in the digital banking. The effects of stereotypes which are imposed through media on the creativity of children during the early puberty: the concept of goodness and badness

Preprint | 2023 | Yeditepe University Academic and Open Access Information System

The aim of this thesis is to understand how much children in early puberty get affected by the stereotypes that are presented through media. Also, it aims to elaborate how much these children manage to get out of these stereotypical patterns in situations that require them to use their own creativity. To understand how much they can cross the stereotypical borders as they think during a creative process, students are asked to illustrate goodness and badness in human forms in focus group sessions held in different types of schools located in Istanbul and Mardin. The illustrations are then statistically analyzed via semiological and c . . .ategorical analysis methods to understand at what level they choose to recreate angel and demon stereotypes. In conclusion, this study shows that students are aware of the iconological qualities of these stereotypes, and they mostly choose to recreate these stereotypes they see in media, in their own unique illustrations. It is also noted that the student’s perceptions of goodness and badness symbols are not influenced, neither with respect to cities they live in, nor the school types they attend, at any statistically significant level Daha fazlası Daha az
