In this study, it was aimed to study the relationships between counseling and guidance understanding of guidance teachers, who are in charge of giving counseling and guidance service to a class, and their attitudes towards counseling and guidance, and how their understanding of counseling and guidance and their attitudes towards counseling and guidance differentiate in terms of various variables. Within the framework of relational screening model, the Counseling and Guidance Inventory (Kepçeo?lu, 1975) and the Guidance Counselor Attitude Scale (Demir, 2010) were used in the study, which was conducted with 595 guidance teachers worki . . .ng in primary and secondary education institutions in Eskişehir. As a result of the study, it was determined that there was a moderate level relationship (r=.44) between guidance teachers' understanding level of counseling and guidance and their attitude levels towards counseling and guidance. The female guidance teachers were found to have higher understanding of counseling and guidance and attitudes towards counseling and guidance than those of the male teachers. It was also determined that the guidance teachers' understanding of counseling and guidance and their attitudes towards counseling and guidance did not differentiate in terms of branch. On the other hand, the guidance teachers who attended the in-service training about counseling and guidance were found to have more positive attitudes only towards counseling and guidance than the ones who didn't attend the in-service training, whereas the guidance teachers working in primary education were found to have higher levels of both counseling and guidance understanding and attitudes towards counseling and guidance than the ones working in secondary education in terms of the stage of education the teachers work in. Similarly, the counselors who had 1-9 and 10-19 years of seniority had higher counseling and guidance understandings than the ones who had 20 and more years of seniority. The findings obtained as a result of the study were discussed in the light of relevant literature Daha fazlası Daha az

Recent studies on the improvement of quality of teaching and learning revealed that teachers should act as a facilitator, coach or guide to foster students’ knowledge and skills. However, teachers’ professional knowledge and skills is one of the determinants of how effectively they can act in accordance with such roles in a classroom setting. To support the development of both pre-service and in-service teachers’ professional skills is thought as a valuable attempt to improve the effectiveness of teaching in schools. Therefore, under a university-school collaboration program, we provided an opportunity for pre-service mathematics te . . .achers to work with students throughout a year and we investigated their pedagogical content knowledge and noticing skills. We aimed to determine whether or not pre-service teachers attended to mathematical opportunities occurred while interacting with students and we analyzed how they responded to those opportunities. In this paper we discussed their responding actions through two sample instances. Such an analysis is likely to contribute to the relevant literature in terms of identifying the nature of pre-service teachers’ in-the-moment noticing as well as evaluating their responding actions for mathematical opportunities. © 2019 Turkish Education Association. This study was carried out to measure the impact of the use of educational software (An individual educational software and games) used in vocabulary teaching on the success and the strategy use of the students. To measure the impact of educational software and games on the success of students, a quasi-experimental method consisting of one group repeated measurements was applied. A quasi-experimental method consisting of a one group pre-test and post-test was used to test the second question of the study which was the impact of the educational software and games on the students' use of vocabulary learning strategies . Two types of e . . .ducational software were used in the study. One of them (Dynamic English Vocabulary Instruction Software) was a type of educational software used individually and the other consisted of four different computer games. The implementation process of the research consisted of a total of 9 weeks. Vocabulary was taught to the same group of students with the help of two different types of educational software (DENIS and Games setting) consecutively, and the success of the students in pre, mid and post-tests were compared. After the analysis, it was concluded that both types of software had positive effects on vocabulary learning. A foreign language vocabulary learning strategies scale (Kocaman & Kizilkaya Cumao?lu, 2014) was applied at the beginning and end of the application process. When pre and post-test scores of the scale were compared to subscale and total scores, it was concluded that the use of compensation strategies by the students increased significantly. In the study, vocabulary learning strategies were also analysed to figure out whether they changed according to gender. When strategy use was analysed according to gender, it was found that compensation strategies were more used by male students than female students Daha fazlası Daha az

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of 4MAT Teaching Model and Whole Brain Model on academic achievement in science and to compare those effects with the effect of inquiry based instruction, which suggested by the science course teaching program. This research is designed in static group pre test-post test design. The study group constituted a total of 68 sixth grade students, 29 in Experimental Group I, 21 in Experimental Group II and 18 in the control group. Experimental processes were carried out simultaneously in 3 groups during 32 class hours by one of the researchers. While 4MAT Teaching Model was used In Exper . . .imental Group I, Whole Brain Model was applied in Experimental Group II. The control group was engaged in inquiry based instruction. Kolb Learning Style Inventory III was applied to determine the learning styles of the participant students. Academic achievement test was applied as the pre test and the post test. While analyzing the data, the standard deviations and means were calculated and Paired Samples t-Test, One Way Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA), Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, Kruskal Wallis Test, and Mann Whitney U Test were conducted. As a result of the research, it was determined that all of the three instructions applied increased the academic achievement in science. Moreover, it was found that 4MAT Teaching Model was more effective than Whole Brain Model in terms of increasing academic achievement. However, it was determined that the effects of 4MAT Teaching Model and Whole Brain Model on the academic achievement in science did not differentiate from the effect of inquiry based instruction. In addition, it was detected that the effects of 4MAT Teaching Model and of Whole Brain Model on academic achievement in science did not differentiate regarding learning styles of the student. On the other hand, it was proved that inquiry based instruction did not support the academic achievement of the students with diverging learning style Daha fazlası Daha az

This study aimed to investigate the relationships between humor styles, shyness and automatic thoughts among university students. The sample of the study consisted of 422 university students. In order to obtain the research data, the humor styles questionnaire. The Shyness Scale and the Automatic Thoughts Scale were used. The data were analyzed using SPSS 15.0 package program; via t-test, correlation analysis and regression analysis methods. The results indicated that negative humor styles of the male students were significantly higher than those of the female students, while there were no significant differences according to gender . . . in terms of positive humor styles. Additionally, it was found that positive humor styles negatively correlated with shyness and automatic thoughts, self defeating humor positively related with automatic thoughts; and aggressive humor positively related with two subscales of automatic thoughts. Other findings of the study indicated that shyness, personal adjustment and desire for change predicted together affiliative humor; shyness and hopelessness predicted together self-enhancing humor; negative feelings and thoughts towards oneself predicted aggressive humor; and negative feelings , thoughts towards oneself personal adjustment and desire for change predicted together self-defeating humor Daha fazlası Daha az
