This thesis endeavours to explore the enchanting power of beauty and its history. This thesis aims at examining the enchanting power of beauty on selected characters in Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray and Mary Elizabeth Braddon’s Lady Audley’s Secret.
