The aim of this paper is to explore the heterotopic nature of the concept of memory in dystopian fictions The Memory Police by Yoko Ogawa and The Giver by Lois Lowry comparatively and thereby to discuss that memory is possible to be applied as a means of oppression primarily through the destruction of this heterotopic space and individuality. The effects of industrial revolutions on unemployment

In this study, after briefly mentioning the important turning points for the history of humanity, the social structure before and after the Industrial Revolution will be discussed comparatively and after briefly mentioning the types of unemployment that are a part of our subject, four main Industrial Revolutions will be mentioned. Finally, the positive and negative effects of Industrial Revolutions on unemployment will be discussed.

Framing of the Annan Plan in print media: A comparative analysis

This dissertation presents a comparative analysis of headline articles, op-eds, and cartoons on the Annan Plan that appeared in Turkish Cypriot, Greek Cypriot, Turkish and Greek newspapers in the month preceding the twin referenda held on 24 April 2002. Regardless of the cultural differences, the 19th century Victorian England and Tanzimat Period in Ottoman Empire had similar expectations from women. The two novelists from these two countries, Thomas Hardy and Ahmet Mithat Efendi, had critical attitude towards such expectations.
