The present study aims to understand the relationship between alexithymia and personality in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) and/or panic disorder (PD) in the context of childhood traumas. The research was carried out during the Coronavirus epidemic, in two periods (self- quarantine and new normal periods) with and without governmental restrictions. This thesis aims to explore two contemporary novels, Elif Shafak’s The Island of Missing Trees and Christy Lefteri’s Songbirds by using Mikhail Bakhtin’s theoretical framework on language and the novel.
