The role of self disgust in the relationship between childhood trauma and dissociation

In this study, it was aimed to examine the mediating role of self-disgust in the relationship between childhood traumas and dissociation in adults. 376 participants between the ages of 21-50 participated in the study. “Sociodemographic Information Form”, Childhood Mental Trauma Scale 33-item Form, Dissociation Scale and Self-Disgust Scale were used on the participants. Elviye-i Selâse (“Triple Cities”) is the region consisting of Batumi, Ardahan and Kars sanjaks during the Ottoman Period. The fact that the region was taken from the Ottoman Empire after the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878) was a major disadvantage for the Turkish people living in this region. Shamanism has been considered as a singular phenomenon in most of the studies carried out about Shamanism so far, and it has not been taken into consideration that there are different types of Shamanism. Shamanist beliefs, which were developed in a very large region such as Siberia, were divided into different branches as a result of different social, cultural and political effects in Siberia, and led to the emergence of Shamanist practices called Paleo-Siberian Shamanism and Neo-Siberian Shamanism.

Soğucak village, one of the Circassian villages in Yalova, was chosen as a sample in the research.
