‘Tronie’ in dutch painting of the XVII Century

The purpose of this study is to conduct a comprehensive analysis by identifying the formal similarities and functional differences between “Tronie” painting and portrait painting that emerged in Dutch Golden Age painting of the XVII century. The aspects of Tronie painting that deviate from the standard understanding of portraiture are not easy to determine, as it has broad significance in its own genre. Bu çalışmada ünlü Osmanlı Devlet adamı Ahmet Şefik Midhat Paşa’nın II. Sadareti sırasında ve ilk Osmanlı Anayasası olan Kanun-i Esasi’nin ilan edilip, ilk Osmanlı Parlamentosu’nun kurulmasından hemen sonra Sultan Abdülhamid tarafından Avrupa’ya sürgün edilmesi süreci ele alınmaktadır. This dissertation examines A.S. Byatt's The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye and Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber and the discussion on the contemporary issues of women, a portrayal of gender in the media, and the political position of women. The study also examines the ways in which Byatt and Carter redefined prevailing traditional notions of femininity in their selected stories. In a male-dominated environment, females are presented as emotional, weak, followers, and submissive to males whereas males are presented as bold, strong, and rational beings. Bloody, bold and resolute: Dimensions of power in Hamlet, King Lear and Macbeth

This thesis argues that there is a symbiotic relationship between the actions of characters making use of different aspects of power, and the plot progression in three tragedies by William Shakespeare; Hamlet, King Lear, and Macbeth, whose plots were built upon a problem of succession. How systematic is default risk?

This study aims to provide an extensive analysis of systematic (market-wide) and systemic (sector-wide and industry-wide) components of the idiosyncratic default risk. We detect significant heterogeneity among the default risk structure of various industry groups. More specifically, the default probability of institutions affiliated with certain industry groups is more strongly linked to industry-wide risks while others are more heavily tied to sectorwide risks. Ideology, as a system of ideas characterizing that forms the basis of theories and policies, shapes the way in which citizens and politicians conceptualize foreign policy. In analyzing the determinants of American foreign policy in the post-Wilsonian era, this research considers realism and idealism to be the two opposing foundational ideologies upon which additional systems in political thought are founded.
